Frequently-Asked Questions
- What equipment does Matt use?
- Most of the work on this site was photographed with a Contax 645 and Carl Zeiss lenses, then scanned on a Nikon 8000 ED negative scanner. Some photos were also taken with Canon, Fuji, or Nikon digital cameras, or with Hasselblad or Mamiya equipment. All retouching was performed in Adobe Photoshop on a Macintosh. Matt’s current camera for commercial work is the Canon EOS 5D Mark II with a variety of Canon L-series lenses.
- Have these photos been retouched?
- Typically, each photo is adjusted for color and contrast, then cropped. Distracting elements may be digitally removed or replaced. Generally, little additional manipulation is required.
- Is Matt available to shoot my author photo?
- This can sometimes be arranged through your publisher’s marketing department—if you tell your agent or editor that you would like your photo taken by Matt Valentine, they will typically make all necessary arrangements. Otherwise, please send an inquiry.
- Is Matt available to shoot my wedding?
- Matt shoots a maximum of two weddings each month. Pricing varies significantly depending on the location(s), size, and complexity of the wedding. Please send an inquiry.
- Matt took a photo of me sometime in the past. How can I get a copy?
- All photos are archived and stored indefinitely, so there’s a good chance your photo is still accessible. Send information about the date and location, and a description of the shoot.
